13-Michael Ballack
Narodil se roku 1976 v Gorlitzu a svojí úspěšnou kariéru odstartoval v roce 1983 v BSG Motor "Fritz Heckert" Karl - Marx- Stadt. Postupně už se však ze začátku Michaelovy kariéry stává chaoz. Kluby se totiž po pádu komunistického režimu začaly zbavovat komunistických jmen a proto se začali přejmenovávat.
Malý Michael v roce 1986 přestoupil do týmu Karl-Marx-Stadt FC, který se v roce 1990 přejmenoval na Chemnitz FC a záložník zde zůstal až do roku 1997. Ale už ve svém prvním angažmá se o něm mluvilo jako o zázraku, který už tak v mladém věku dokázal využít obě nohy a i hlavu. Jeho de facto jediným handicapem je zrak. Mike se neobejde bez kontaktních oček. „Jsem slepý jako patrona,“ sděloval jednou novinářům s úsměvem.
Kaiserslautern FC si ho udržel jen dva roky a tudíž se v roce 1999 Michael poroučel za větší výzvou do Bayernu Leverkusen. Nejvíce se ale proslavil v Bayernu Mnichov. Dostal kapitánskou pásku jak tam, tak v národním týmu.
Mnichov na něm stavěl, pro Mnichov znamenal všechno. Ale jen čtyři roky. Ballack neprodloužil smlouvu a už v únoru si sháněl budoucí angažmá. Chelsea po něm chňápla svými dlouhými chapadly a Michael se nechal zlákat hvězdami v sestavě a vysokým platem. Začal brát intenzivní hodiny angličtiny a našel domeček ve Wimbledonu pro sebe a svojí rodinu, aby byl opravdu připravený.
A přesně ta poslední věta vystihuje Michaela Ballacka. Pilného, chytrého kluka z NDR, který svědomitě plní svou práci. Nechme ho plnit svou práci i v Chelsea.
